I support the elimination of the motorcycle rallies in Myrtle Beach, SC and surrounding areas. I will support efforts by local and state officials, including our elected representatives, to do what is necessary to end these events and take back the month of May for our citizens. Specifically, I support the following actions:

1. Broader, stricter enforcement of all existing regulations, including noise ordinances and traffic laws.

2. Elimination of vendor permits during these motorcycle rallies.

3. Alter the traffic patterns on main thoroughfares, including Ocean Blvd., Kings Highway and 17 Bypass to disrupt the traffic flow and reduce the congestion caused by these events.

4. Implementation of numerous traffic checkpoints inside and outside the City of Myrtle Beach, staffed with law enforcement officers to check for drunken driving, compliance with noise ordinances, licenses/registration/insurance, etc.

5. Implementation of a local-option helmet law (requires enabling legislation by the State of South Carolina)

6. Any other measures as may be necessary to eliminate these events in our community.
